For rough Vermont winters, Maddie explains why the WeatherBeeta ComFiTec Ultra Cozi was the right heavy turnout option for her horses.
We live on a farm in Vermont, and our current horses (and donkeys!) live at home. Even with our set up of individual stalls & run in sheds, Vermont winters can be pretty tough, so we always need to ensure our horses have the best protection. Most of our current horses are also older & retired, so we do not want the added stress of being cold. Each horse has a carefully selected combination of Lites, Mediums, Stable Blankets & Coolers depending on their fit & use, however all of my horses are outfitted in the ComFiTec Ulta Cozi for their Heavy Weight option. With lots of snow, wind, and general cold temperatures, head to tail coverage was my main goal in a Heavy blanket. The snug fit around the ears allows for compete protection again the wind, and also serves as a cuff to help reduce heat loss. The full wrap tail flap ensures no wind can penetrate the blanket during turnout, and the Cozi-Guard at the chest removes the usual gap you often find with standard neck rugs. The belly wrap offers an additional element of coverage, especially on our smaller guys when the snow gets a bit deeper!
Not only is the blanket incredibly comfortable (forward facing gussets, memory foam wither relief pad), but the quick clips in the front & touch tape neck closures allow for easy on and off – even with thick winter gloves. The 1680 Denier outer is very durable, and the added reflective strips are very helpful with the shorter daylight periods. Definitely my go to model for ultimate winter coverage!
